easy onion spaghetti sauce

  • 3 onions, chopped
  • 4T olive or canola oil
  • 1 T salt
  • 1t black pepper
  • 1 t basil dry
  • 1t crushed red pepper
  • 2 T roasted garlic
  • 1/2 box spaghetti
  1. put oil in heavy bottom sauce pot, then add onions and salt
  2. Cook onions until heavily caramelized, watching carefully so they don't burn
  3. add black pepper, basil, pepper, and garlic
  4. Boil spaghetti according to package
  5. drain pasta, reserving 1/2 c water
  6. add pasta to onion mixture, adding pasta water if sauce is too dry
I know this sounds really weird, but it tastes so good - the onions get cooked for so long that they practically get liquified
