caramel apples (Halloween lab)

  • Preparation Time: 10 minutes
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 6 apples
  • non stick cooking spray
  1. add sugar syrup 1/2 cup water to a sauce pan over medium high heat
  2. stir before the sugar begins to boil to combine the ingredients bring the mixture to a boil
  3. cook untill the mixture turns an amber color than swirl to even out color continue to cook untill the mixture is a deep amber color than remove from heat
  4. carefully pour in the cream gentally whisk to combine stir in butter and vanilla untill smooth
  5. one at a time dip in an apple using the stick as a handle swirling to coat completly allow excess caramel to drip off the bottom
  6. set each apple on parchment paper and sprinkle with toppings of your choise
  7. let cool and come back to get them later
it is really sweet and make sure you eat it soon
