Small white Cake

  • 8 inch layer cake
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 level cupful of sugar
  • 1/2 cupful milk
  • 2 egg whites, well beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoonful almond extract
  • 2 level teaspoonfuls baking powder
  • 1 1/2 level cupfuls flour
  • pinch salt
  1. Cream butter and sugar together, add milk, extract and flour sifted with baking powder and salt.
  2. Beat for 5 minutes; fold in egg whites and turn into buttered tin and bake for 35 minutes in moderate (350F) oven.
  3. Frost with desired frosting.
I have several favorite "from scratch" cakes. I rarely ever use a cake mix. But this one is such a good, moist cake and one our family loves so much. This is absolutely delicious!!
