Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cake

  • 1 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 c. oatmeal
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts (optional, preferably not)
  • 1 stick of margarine
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1- 12 oz. pack of chocolate chips
DIRECTIONS
  1. Mix water and oatmeal and let set 10 minutes. Combine sugars and margarine and add to softened oatmeal. Add egg and mix well. Add flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa. When the mix is a nice consistency, add 1/2 bag of chocolate chips. Pour batter into greased pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Bake in 350 degree oven for 40 minutes.
