Mystery Toffee
  • 22 saltine crackers
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup walnuts
  1. Preheat oven to 350. Line 9x13 pan with foil. Bring foil 1 inch up sides. Cover neatly with crackers. Melt butter and add brown sugar. Boil 1 minute while stirring. Pour syrup over crackers. Bake for 7 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips and return to oven for 1 minute. Remove from oven and spread chocolate as necessary. Sprinkle with walnuts and press then in. Refrigerate 1-2 hours. Lift from pan and break into chunks. Store in refrigerator or freezer.
A fairly new recipe in Mom's collection but has quickly become another favorite holiday treat.
