Layered Oriental Appetizer

INGREDIENTS
  • TOPPING:
  • 3/4 Cup cooked chicken
  • 1/2 Cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 Cup water chestnuts
  • 3 Tbls. sliced green oinion
  • 1 Tbls. parsley
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbls. soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. ginger
  • ZIPPY SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE:
  • 1/4 Cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. cornstarch
  • 1 Cup water
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbls. cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbls. worcestershire sauce
  • BASE:
  • 8 oz. pkg. softened cream cheese
  • 1 Tbls. milk
DIRECTIONS
  1. In small bowl, conbine all topping ingredients; mix well.
  2. Cover; refrigerate several hours or overnight to blend flavors.
  3. In small saucepan, combine brown sugar and cornstarch; mix well.
  4. Gradually stir in remaining sauce ingredients;
  5. cook over medium heat about 5 minutes or until mixture thickens, stirring frequently.
  6. Cool.
  7. In small bowl; combine cream cheese and milk; beat until smooth and fluffy.
  8. Spread cream cheese mixture over bottom of 10-inch round serving dish.
  9. Spoon topping evenly over cream cheese. Drizzle with 1/4 to 1/2 Cup sauce.
  10. Serve with crackers.
  11. To store remaining sauce, cover and refrigerate.
