• 1 cup milk
• 1 stick butter
• 4 eggs
• 2 cups sugar
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1 cup milk
• 1 stick butter

1. Boil first 2 ingredients (milk and butter) and set aside.
2. Blend eggs and sugar. Add flour, baking powder, and vanilla. Stir in milk/butter. Mix until lumps disappear.
3. Bake of one hour at 350 degrees in a 9 x 13 pan for about 30 minutes. For tube pan, bake 50-60 minutes. Watch the cake. When it springs back when touched, it is done.
4. Good served with strawberries or fresh peaches.

This is an old-fashioned cake. I got the recipe from the grandmother of my daughter's friend. Nothing fancy at all about it, but it has a good flavor that goes well with strawberries, peaches, etc. If you haven't had a plain cake lately, this is one to try.
