Hamburgar and Noodles
  • 1 1/2lbs. Hamburger
  • 1 med. onion(chopped)
  • 2 cans(15ozs.) Diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup ice cold water
  1. In a dutch oven or soup pan add hamburgar,tomatoes,chopped onion, sounds crazy but trust me it works. Then cover mixture with water and bring to boil,then turn down stove to simmer,put lid on pan and let simmer for 1hr. Homemade noodles: Sift cups of flour into a large bowl,add 3/4 cup of iced cold water. Mix together into a round ball add flour a little at a time if mixture is sticky. Then sprinkle some flour on a pastry mat. Roll out ball until about a 1/4 inch thick. Let dry for about 1hr,then cut into 1-inch strips and roll each strip into a jelly-roll style,cut as thin as you can all of the strips.When you are done cutting each roll spread out noodles to let dry about 30 minutes. Then add to hamburger mixture and bring up to a boil,put lid back on pan and turn down to a simmer for 20 minutes until done.
  2. I serve this over mashed potatoes. I know,two starches but it is really good. Of course this is one of my moms recipes and she never told me why you mash together the main ingredients but it seems to work for me so why question it. I know i should have put this first,but i usually make my noodles first.
