Grandma Yetta's Crumb Cake
INGREDIENTS
  • Cooking Time: 40 minutes
  • 1 to 1-1/4 C sugar
  • 3 oz. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 C sifted flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda (in warmed milk)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp mace
  • 2 tsp crumbs (cake or bread)
  • 1 tsp raisins
  • 1 tsp lemon rind
  • 1/2 tsp nuts (rolled on oil paper)
  • 1 pint milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
DIRECTIONS
  1. Cream sugar and shortening.
  2. Add eggs one by one.
  3. Sift flour with salt, baking powder and spices.
  4. Combine all dry ingredients.
  5. Add dry ingredients to creamed ingredients alternately with milk and flavoring.
  6. Bake in 350 degree oven for 40 minutes or until it separates from sides.
