Buttermilk Pie

  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tsp vanilla flavoring
  • 1 tsp lemon flavoring.
  • Deep dish pie shell
  1. Combine sugar and flour.
  2. Add eggs to sugar/flour mixture.
  3. Add malted margarine and buttermilk.
  4. Fold in flavorings. Pour into chilled unbaked pie shell.
  5. Preheat oven and bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees and bake 35 minutes longer without opening the door.
This has been a favorite recipe in our family since the early 1960's. Several years ago when I was sick and craving buttermilk pie, my husband, who had never made a pie in his life, made one for me. His turned out great!
