BOILED CHOCOLATE FROSTING (ALSO CALLED JAPANESE FROSTING)
INGREDIENTS
- Boiled Chocolate Frosting
- (double this for a two layer cake)
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 tbsp. cocoa
- 2 heaping tbsp. corn starch
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 tbsp. butter
- a pinch of salt
DIRECTIONS
- Method: Mix all of the dry ingredients together in a pot.
- Add hot water slowly, stirring constantly.
- Add the butter.
- On medium heat bring to a boil stirring constantly to prevent lumping.
- Cook for approximately 5 minutes after coming to a boil or until thick.
- Now this must be thick. Cool for approximately 10 minutes stirring occasionally.
- Spread on the bottom layer of a two layer cake. Put the second layer on top and ice all over.
