Aunt June Tavenier's Chili Sauce
INGREDIENTS
- Servings: about 6 pints
- 1 peck tomatoes
- 8 large onions
- 8 hot peppers
- 1 cup salt
- 1 quart vinegar
- 6 cups of sugar
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp allspice
DIRECTIONS
- Skin tomatoes and cut fine
- Add ground peppers and onions
- Add salt
- Let stand overnight
- Drain in colander 2 hours
- Put in bowl and add vinegar, sugar. ginger, cinnamon, allspice
- Boil 'til thick about 1 1/2 hours
- Put in pint jars
