Aloo Masala Bombay Sandwich
INGREDIENTS

  • For the Potato Filling:
  • 2 boiled potatoes (roughly chopped)
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 green chili
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Few curry leaves
  • For the sandwich:
  • Few slices of bread
  • Few slices of onions
  • Few slices of cucumbers
  • Few slices of tomatoes
  • Butter
  • Green chutney (optional but recommended)
  • Cheese (optional)
DIRECTIONS
  1. For the Potato Filling:
  2. 1. In a pan, heat the oil.
  3. 2. Add the mustard seeds and let it crackle.
  4. 3. Add the potatoes, cumin powder, turmeric powder, chili, salt and curry leaves.
  5. 4. On a low flame, mash the mixture until fully incorporated.
  6. 5. Switch off the gas. The mixture is ready.
  7. For the Sandwich:
  8. 1. Heat the sandwich maker/griller.
  9. 2. Take two slices of bread and spread a thin layer of butter and chutney to both slices.
  10. 3. Add the potato filling and close the sandwich.
  11. 4. Place the sandwich in the griller until crispy (about 3 minutes).
  12. 5. Take out the sandwich and open it. Add the tomatoes, onion, cucumber and cheese.
  13. 6. Close the sandwich and serve!

This sandwich is a popular type of street food in India. I tried to make my own version at home and this is the recipe. This recipe is really easy and quick to make! All it takes is a few ingredients. The potato filling makes any boring sandwich a lot better. You can add whatever veggies that you want in your sandwich. I just included the ones I added in mine.
