Wilted Lettuce Salad in Memory of Ida Roth Galbreath

"Grandmother served this in the 40's & 50's always a great side dish."

Serves 3-4 | Prep Time 15 | Cook Time 5 min

Why I Love This Recipe

I love this dish it bring back sweet childhood memories.

Ingredients You'll Need

tender leaf lettuce
1/4 c thinly sliced radishes
3 green onions chopped the blades too
4 slices of crisp fried bacon crumbled
1/2 c bacon drippings
1/4 c vinegar
1 tb. sugar


Tear lettuce in small pieces and place in a large salad bowl, the add the crumbled bacon. Heat the bacon drippings and add vinegar and sugar. make this just before you serve the salad. Pour over salad toss and serve. The dressing should be just hot enough to wilt the lettuce not make it limp.

Pairs Well With

pork chops and mashed potatoes
