Treasure Chest Bars

Why I Love This Recipe
Like the name implies, these bars are loaded with goodies - peanuts, chocolate, and cherries. I have made them many times for Christmas, and everyone enjoys them.
Ingredients You'll Need
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup milk
1 cup salted peanuts, coarsely chopped
6 oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 cup)
1 cup Maraschino cherries, drained and coarsely chopped
Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Grease and flour a 9 x 13 inch baking pan.
Chop the cherries and set aside in a strainer to drain.
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugars.
Blend in eggs and vanilla; beat until fluffy.
Add half of the dry ingredients - combine completely.
Add half of the milk - combine well. Repeat with the remaining dry ingredients and milk.
Stir in the nuts, chips, and cherries.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until light golden brown.
Cool before cutting.
