Mashed Potatoes - for beginners

Why I Love This Recipe

Ingredients You'll Need

4 Lg Idaho potatos, about 2 pounds
1/2 tsp salt
3 Tbs. butter
1/2 cup milk
fresh ground pepper to taste.


Peel the potatoes and cut them into quarters.

Place them in a medium saucepan with cold water to barely cover and 1/2 tsp sat.

Cover and bring to boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium and cook, covered, for about 15 minutes or until you can easily pierce the potatoes with a fork.

Drain the potatoes in a colander and then return them to the saucepan. Shake the potatoes in the pan over low heat for 10-15 sec to evaporate excess moisture if necessary.

Remove the pan from the heat. Mash the potatoes a few times with a masher. Add the butter, milk and salt/pepper to taste and mash again until smooth and creamy.
