Frozen Fruit Salad with Dressing 'Voila' Mom

Why I Love This Recipe
I remember Mom making this when I was young. She served it as a salad but as you can see from the recipe, it is really a frozen dessert. Yummy!!!
The recipe was originally clipped from a newspaper, The Charlotte Observer, most likely.
Ingredients You'll Need
Salad
3 ripe bananas
1 cup canned pineapple, sliced
1 cup canned pears, diced
1 dozen, maraschino cherries, thinly sliced
1 cup fruit salad dressing
1 cup heavy cream, whipped
Dressing
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoons flour
1 egg
2 tablespoons vinegar
3/4 cup pineapple juice
Directions
Salad Dressing directions
Mix together sugar, salt, four, vinegar and pineapple juice, stirring well after each addition.
Cook over a low heat until thick and smooth, stirring constantly
Cool before adding to salad.
Make about 1 cup
Salad directions
Mash bananas to a smooth pulp.
Add pineapple, pears, and cherries.
Add fruit salad dressing
Fold into whipped cream
Pour into a 8 inch square dish.
A quart milk carton works well for freezer container and mold for salad.
Freeze to solidly frozen.
Remove from mold and slice.
Serve immediately
