Why I Love This Recipe

Everyone likes a burger now and then, so why not "kick it up a notch?" The Lipton soup mix and the splash of vermouth in the onions takes this to a new level. I hope you enjoy it.

Ingredients You'll Need

1 pound of 80/20 ground beef
4 slices of white "Cooper" cheese
1 medium onion thinly sliced
1 ripe tomato
2 teaspoons of butter
1 tablespoon of mayo
1/2 tablespoon of sriracha ketchup ( or regular)
1/2 tablespoon of Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon of pickle relish
1 ounce of Vermouth
1 packet of lipton's "Beefy onion" soup mix
1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
4 good burger buns

Start by stirring one packet of Lipton's beefy onion soup mix into about a quarter cup of really hot water. Mix it really well, and then let it sit for about ten minutes

Set that aside and place your 80/20 burger in a nice bowl. Then pour your soup mix into your ground beef and knead it gently. Set this aside now.

put your butter in a small fry pan and add your onions. Gently cook them down for about 10 minutes, trying to get them caramelized brown. When they're close, add your one ounce of vermouth ( any kind) to the onions and continue to cook them down.

As your onions are cooking off, make your topping. Add the mayo, ketchup, mustard and pickle relish in a small bowl and mix well.

Slice up your tomato

When your onions are looking deep brown, turn the heat to minimum and lets make burgers. Divide the burger/Lipton mix into 4 equal parts, and press them and shape them into 4 burgers.

If you are grilling them, toss them on the grill now over medium heat. cook for about 3 minutes and then flip and do the other side. This is when you should salt and pepper your burgers.

About a minute into the second side, cover each burger with a slice of good "cooper" cheese.

toss your buns on the grill, and give them a quick toast as the second side of the burger is cooking.

Pull your buns off the grill and smear them with your mayo/ketchup/mustard/relish mix. Don't go crazy heavy, just coat them

Use a spatula to get the burger off the grill, and place it on the bun, cheese side up. toss a slice of tomato on top of the cheese. With a pair of tongs, grab your vermouth/caramelized onions and place a glob of them on the tomato.

Top it with the other half of the bun, and give it a gentle "press" to meld everything together

Serve with fries or slaw.

Pairs Well With

burgers and fries, burgers and slaw, burgers and tater tots, burgers and ......etc.
