Chaa (not Chai) by Priya Manhas

"Spiced black tea from India"
Serves 2 small cups of tea, or 1 large | Prep Time 15 min | Cook Time 10 minWhy I Love This Recipe
Chaa is a staple in most Indian families, including my own. Not only is it how most decide to caffeinate themselves first thing in the morning, it also will be enjoyed several times a day, even after dinner. Most significantly, Chaa is used as a form of hospitality and is always offered and served when guests visit.
Ingredients You'll Need
1 whole black or green cardamom pod
1 tsp fennel seed
1/2 tsp fresh ginger
2 cups of water
1 black (orange pekoe) tea bags
2 tsp sugar (or to taste)
1/2 cup of milk
Directions
Bring water, spices, sugar and ginger to a gentle boil.
Simmer for a few minutes.
Then add milk, and bring to a boil.
Strain into cups and enjoy!
Recipe can be double/tripled as needed.
*Every person that makes Chaa has their own unique blend of spices, strength in steeping the tea and level of milk added. With this recipe it's encouraged to test and adjust amounts to your own taste level.
