Ingredients You'll Need
Biscuits:
2 Cups self-rising flour
1/4 Cup shortening, margarine or lard
1 Cup buttermilk or 2% milk
Gravy:
3 Tablespoons shortening or bacon drippings
1/4 Cup all-purpose flour
3 Cups milk
1/2 Teaspoon salt
1/4 Teaspoon ground black pepper
Directions
Preheat oven to 500 degrees F. In a bowl, add flour and lard and cut in until pea sized chunks form. Slowly add buttermilk just until dough comes together. Turn out on floured surface and knead gentle. Roll out 1 inches thick and cut in 2 1/2 circles. Bake 8-10 minutes until browned. Now in a warmed skillet, melt drippings, add flour and stir to form rue. Slowly add milk and stir to a boil. Remove from heat and add salt and pepper to taste. Cut biscuits in half and cover with gravy.
