Aunt Hildegarde's Sugar Cookies
Why I Love This Recipe
These are the most tender and best tasting sugar cookies I've ever had!! I got this recipe from a very good friend who's Aunt Hildegarde was reknowed for her baked goodies. And she was always generous in sharing her recipes, too!! These will absolutely melt in your mouth!!
Ingredients You'll Need
1 c. sugar
1 c. crisco (may use part butter)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
Cream sugar, crisco, egg & vanilla.
Add dry ingredients.
Form into balls about the size of a walnut.
Dip in sugar but DO NOT PRESS DOWN!!!
They crack open and flatten as they bake. Bake in 350º oven for 10 - 12 minutes or 'til edges are light brown.
