White Texas Brownies

  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Remove from heat and add:
  • 4 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts, your choice
DIRECTIONS
  1. Bring to a boil the 1 cup margarine and 1 cup water
  2. Remove from heat and stir the following in until smooth:
  3. 2 cups all purpose flour
  4. 2 cups sugar
  5. 2 eggs, beaten
  6. 1/2 cup sour cream
  7. 1 teaspoon almond extract
  8. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  9. dash of salt
  10. Pour into a greased 11 x 17 inch pan and bake 375 degrees for 20 mins.
  11. Prepare frosting while bars are baking and pour over the cooked bars while hot:
  12. Bring to a boil:
  13. 1/2 cup margarine
  14. 1/4 cup milk
  15. Remove from heat and add:
  16. 4 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  17. 1 teaspoon almond extract
  18. 1 cup chopped nuts, your choice

My family has always loved the chocolate version but I have to tell you that these are just as yummy!!
