My Grandmother's Gingersnaps
INGREDIENTS
  • sift together
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • cream together
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • then add
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • add dry ingredients a little at a time
DIRECTIONS
  1. Drop by teaspoons into sugar, roll into small balls, place on cookie
  2. sheet and bake.
  3. Wait until they fall before removing from the baking sheet.
  4. 350ยบ 9-10 minutes

I use a generous measure of the spices and sometimes add small pieces of candied ginger. I also lightly spray the cookie sheet
