Grandma Stevens' Baked Beans

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 lb. small white beans
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 2 t. salt
  • 1 T. dry mustard
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 small can tomato paste (6 oz.)
  • 2 ham hocks
DIRECTIONS
  1. Wash and soak beans overnight. Add all ingredients to dutch oven and cover with water. Cook at 325 degrees 6-8 hours, stirring and adding water every so often to keep the beans soupy. Remove ham hocks, chopping meat and returning it to pot.

My Grandma made this recipe often. It was a standard to take to potlucks, and I make it often for a simple supper with a salad.
