Baked French Toast Casserole with Praline Topping

- 1-loaf french bread(13-160z)
- 8-large eggs
- 2-cps half and half
- 1-cp milk
- 2-tbls granulated sugar
- 1-tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4-tsp cinnamon
- 1/4-tsp nutmeg
- dash of salt
- maple syrup
- Praline topping:
- 1/2-lb (2 sticks of butter)
- 1-cp light brown sugar
- 1 cp chopped pecans
- 2-tbls light corn syrup
- 1/2tsp cinnamon
- 1/2tsp nutmeg
DIRECTIONS
- Slice french bread into 20 slices,1 inch each.Arrange slices in a generously buttered 9 by 13 in. flat baking dish in 2 rows,over lapping the slices.In a large bowl, combine the eggs,half and half,milk,sugar,vanilla,cinnamon,nutmeg and salt and beat with a rotary beater or whisk till blended but not to bubbly.Pour mixture over bread slices, making sure all are covered evenly with milk-egg mixture.Spoon some of the mixture in between slices.Cover with foil and refrigerate over night.
- The next day.pre-heat oven to 350*
- Spread Praline topping evenly over the bread and bake for 40min.,till puffed lightly golden.Serve with maple syrup. do not cover with foil.
- Praline Topping:
- Combine all ingredients in medium bowl and blend well. Makes enough for casserole
