BOILED CHOCOLATE FROSTING (ALSO CALLED JAPANESE FROSTING)
INGREDIENTS
  • Boiled Chocolate Frosting
  • (double this for a two layer cake)
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tbsp. cocoa
  • 2 heaping tbsp. corn starch
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • a pinch of salt
DIRECTIONS
  1. Method: Mix all of the dry ingredients together in a pot.
  2. Add hot water slowly, stirring constantly.
  3. Add the butter.
  4. On medium heat bring to a boil stirring constantly to prevent lumping.
  5. Cook for approximately 5 minutes after coming to a boil or until thick.
  6. Now this must be thick. Cool for approximately 10 minutes stirring occasionally.
  7. Spread on the bottom layer of a two layer cake. Put the second layer on top and ice all over.
