Why I Love This Recipe

The easiest recipe in history!


Ingredients You'll Need

4 plantains
1/2 cup of vegetable oil(may vary depending on your pan size)


Directions

I like to use my small 8 inch cast iron skillet but any frying pan will work just fine.


It's best to buy your plantains at least 5 days before you plan to make them so they have time to ripen. The blacker they get, the sweeter they will be! If you're impatient, there's times I've purchased plantains that were still yellow/green BUT they were soft so they still turned out good. So if you have to, go for it but it could be hit or miss!


On to the recipe.. you want to pour enough oil in your pan to cover the bottom. You should have about 1 inch of oil in your pan.


Preheat on medium.


Slice your plantains how you like. I like mine long and cut on a diagonal but the choice is yours.


Once your oil is ready place them in your pan and allow each side to cook for about 2-3 minutes. You'll notice they will start to turn golden yellow and crisp up. I like mine dark and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.


Once you reach your desired look, remove them from the oil, place on a paper towel, cool for about 3 minutes, then serve!


Pairs Well With

Pairs well with skirt steak, empanadas, or even as a yummy snack or appetizer.
